Kepler Cheuvreux Starts ConvaTec Coverage With Buy Rating
Kepler Cheuvreux has initiated coverage of ConvaTec Group with a Buy rating and a 286-pence price target, arguing that the healthcare-products company could benefit from a recovery in growth, improving margins and stronger cash generation. The development comes as investors assess opportunities across global financial markets amid continued economic and geopolitical uncertainty.
ConvaTec shares were trading around 228.4 pence, up approximately 0.4% when the report was published, although the stock slightly underperformed the broader FTSE 250, which was up about 0.6%. Kepler’s target therefore implies meaningful potential upside if the company’s expected operational recovery materialises.
Growth Recovery Becomes the Key Investment Case
Kepler’s investment thesis centres on ConvaTec moving beyond recent operational difficulties and entering a period of broader and more sustainable growth. The broker expects approximately 7% growth, stronger free cash flow and low-teens compound annual growth in earnings per share.
A major part of the outlook is the company’s recovery following the InnovaMatrix reset. Kepler believes fiscal 2027 should provide investors with greater visibility over sales performance and capital expenditure, allowing the market to focus more closely on the company’s underlying operations.
The broker also expects ConvaTec’s margins to improve towards the mid-20% range, supported by operational improvements and restructuring benefits. Stronger free-cash-flow generation could further strengthen the company’s investment case.
ConvaTec’s Underlying Business Shows Resilience
Recent company results provide additional context for the bullish view. ConvaTec reported 5.0% organic revenue growth excluding InnovaMatrix in the first half of 2026, while adjusted operating margin reached 21.2%. Adjusted diluted EPS increased 6.3% year over year.
Growth has been supported by several of ConvaTec’s core businesses. Ostomy Care revenue increased 8.2% on a reported basis, while Continence Care rose 6.6%. Infusion Care delivered 8.2% reported growth, reflecting demand for infusion sets used in diabetes and other therapies.
The company is also expanding its product pipeline, with eight new chronic-care products scheduled across 2026 and 2027. Its Accelerate strategy targets annual organic revenue growth of 6–8% from 2027, alongside a 24–26% adjusted operating margin and double-digit adjusted EPS growth.
Why the News Matters for FX and Global Markets
Although the ConvaTec announcement is primarily an equity-market story, it also offers insight into broader investor sentiment. UK-listed companies remain sensitive to changes in interest-rate expectations, currency movements, inflation and international economic conditions.
For participants following Forex News and FX News, developments in UK equities can influence market expectations around the British economy and the pound. However, ConvaTec’s share-price outlook should not be interpreted as a direct signal for GBP/USD or other currency pairs.
Geopolitical developments also remain an important consideration for international companies. ConvaTec has identified the wider political and economic environment as a key business risk, particularly because Middle East conflict has contributed to cost and inflation pressures. The company nevertheless said these challenges were not expected to materially change its 2026 group forecast.
What Investors Will Watch Next
The main question for investors is whether ConvaTec can translate its operational improvements into sustained growth. Kepler’s bullish thesis depends on broader growth, improving margins and stronger free cash flow becoming increasingly visible.
The company’s upcoming trading update for the 10 months ending October 31, 2026, is scheduled for November 18, while full-year preliminary results are expected on February 23, 2027.
For now, Kepler’s Buy rating reflects growing confidence that ConvaTec is transitioning from a recovery story into a more predictable growth business. The 286p target highlights the broker’s belief that the market may not yet fully reflect the company’s improving earnings and cash-flow potential.
